This unconventional education taught him skills far beyond traditional noble training, preparing him for challenges that would require both political acumen and practical survival instincts. The death of his father became a pivotal moment, transforming personal grief into a driving sense of responsibility that would define his entire trajectory.
At twenty-five, Leonard founded the Silvercrest Champions' Guild with dear friends, the twins Reginald and Nellandra Skymantle, transforming his personal drive into an institution that would become crucial to Ethelasia's survival. Four years later, he accomplished the extraordinary feat of returning the Phoenixes while meeting his partner Carlolyn - achievements that would echo through supernatural histories and cement his reputation as more than a mere political leader.

Returning the Phoenixes

When the Summer Court fell into ruin and the phoenixes withdrew their favor, Leonard reluctantly agreed to help. He ventured into Szyllangir, the phoenix realm, and appealed directly to Szul on noble terms. His unique magic and yet fully human heritage earned him an audience out of sheer curiosity, and his arguments proved compelling enough to broker a new accord. The phoenixes returned, the Summer Court was saved, and Leonard was promptly conned into becoming a Phoenix Knight—complete with annual celebrations he endures, including ‘The Day of Rebirth’ named in his honor.

War of the Half-Kings

When Reginald sent word that King Ethelas had been assassinated, Leonard acted swiftly—smuggling the young prince Erelion out of Bladelight Rook disguised as a McAllister ward. He sheltered Erelion at Silvercrest, posted Dacius as his personal guard, and worked tirelessly to coordinate with Erlandis and rally support. Ultimately, his protection of Erelion ensured the rightful king survived to reclaim his throne.

The Winter War
When Winter Host marched toward Ethelasia, Leonard threw the full weight of the Champions’ Guild behind King Erelion’s defense. When iron became scarce—repurposed entire ships from Sebaire’s Landing to transport pig iron from the western lands. As the Guild’s resources were consumed by the war effort and monsters overran Ethelasia’s interior, Leonard made the brutal choice to commit Guild soldiers to the Ethelasian army under Dacius Threign’s command. His logistical genius and unwavering support enabled Dacius to breach the Winter Court and end the threat.
