The World is Larger than You Think
If you’ve spent your entire life in a human settlement, you might labor under the delightful misconception that humanity represents the pinnacle—or at least the majority—of civilization. Allow me to gently disabuse you of that notion. The world is populated by a dazzling array of peoples, each with their own customs, magics, and opinions about how things ought to be done. Some of us even have wings.
A Sampling of Our Neighbors
You’ll encounter far more than humans on your travels, and it’s worth knowing a bit about who you’re likely to meet. Here are some of the most common races you’ll find throughout the known world—though “common” is a relative term when discussing beings who breathe fire or commune with trees.

01
Dwarves
Renowned craftsmen and resilient people who inhabit mountains and subterranean spaces. Their culture is defined by a perpetual quest – a driving search for something beyond the immediate. Critically, they are a race of extraordinary memory and commitment; they will remember every promise, every slight, every agreement. Work with them honestly, and you’ll have allies of unparalleled loyalty.
02
Sereiads
Often simplistically described as “half-fish people,” these waterfolk represent a far more complex maritime ecosystem. Composed of a diverse mixture of ocean creatures, they embody the fluid, multifaceted nature of marine life.

03
Orqani
Green-skinned warriors and sages from the eastern realms, currently in a period of recovery and reconstruction following a significant conflict. They view magic as a profound spiritual connection, demonstrating remarkable restraint – for instance, possessing the ability to bring water to a desert but choosing not to disrupt natural ecosystems out of deep respect.
04
Dryads & Forestfolk
Part of the broader Forestfolk, these beings are fundamentally connected to a specific tree – their “drys” – which serves as their core essence. Their existence is a profound symbiosis between individual consciousness and the ancient, living landscape.

Kithfolk
A culture of smallfolk where personal and collective history is literally inscribed upon their skin. Their familial bonds and cultural memory are not merely metaphorical, but physically manifested in intricate, living narratives carried on their very bodies.

Somni
Ethereal beings originating from the realm of dreams, existing in a state between imagination and reality.
